The Ombudsman and Commissioners are independent and autonomous Officers of Parliament responsible for the investigation of complaints against public authorities. The Office of the Ombudsman does not form part of government.

Complaints can be submitted by the general public who feel aggrieved and believe that they suffered an injustice, hardship or discrimination at the hands of government departments or other public bodies.

All investigations conducted by the Ombudsman and Commissioners are confidential and all the information provided to his Office is used only for investigative purposes. The Office of the Ombudsman charges no fees for its services and all his investigations are focused on fairness for all.
